Professor Wakefield is a medical psychologist and researcher dedicated to improving quality of life for seriously ill children and their families. Her work develops evidence-based psychosocial interventions across paediatric palliative care, precision medicine, and global health, grounded in a strong commitment to compassionate, patient-centred care. As a World Health Organization (WHO) expert advisor, Professor Wakefield collaborates closely with the WHO, including serving as a chief investigator on the major WHO study on the lived experience of people affected by cancer.
