Dr. Arpan Patel is Assistant Professor of Medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA and a staff hepatologist at the VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System, where he is also Core Investigator at the Center for Study of Healthcare Innovation, Implementation and Policy (CSHIIP). Dr. Patel’s research aims to integrate principles of patient-centered care (including high-quality communication, shared decision making, symptom management, and caregiver support) in the management of patients with serious illnesses affecting the liver. He has specific interest in patients with decompensated cirrhosis and alcohol-associated liver disease.
