Assistant Professor of Medicine, Director of Outpatient Palliative Care
University of Connecticut
My current position is an Assistant Professor at the University of Connecticut Center on Aging. My research goal is to study interventions that could improve the quality of life of older adults with serious illnesses. My medical background in Geriatrics and Hospice and Palliative Medicine provides me with the essential knowledge and skills necessary to pursue this goal. Additionally, I completed a master’s degree in clinical and translational research to improve my methodological skills.
My thesis focused on enhancing psychological resilience in older adults following hip fracture, resulting in a primary authorship publication in the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society (JAGS) in 2022. In my current role at UConn, I am working to expand access to palliative care in the ambulatory setting. Specifically, we have launched a palliative care practice to serve patients with non-malignant serious illnesses, whose care is often complex due to multiple comorbidities, high symptom burden, and reduced quality of life.
