Bethany Giesel MSN AGACNP-BC ACHPN is a certified nurse practitioner on the Inpatient Palliative Medicine service at the University of Virginia. She has her BSN from the University of Virginia in 2014. Her nursing background is in Hematology-Oncology and Stem Cell Transplantation. She worked at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital (2014-2017) and the Penn Medicine Abramson Cancer Center (2017-2020). She received her MSN in the Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner program with a minor in Palliative Care from the University of Pennsylvania.
She has practiced as a palliative care nurse practitioner at UVA Medical Center for the past five years. She is active in quality improvement and clinical education of learners at all levels. Her clinical and research interests include palliative care involvement in stem cell transplantation, ethics, patient safety and sexuality in cancer and end-of-life care. In her free time, she spends most of her time with her toddler and baby and uses her palliative communication skills for toddler meltdowns.
